François Arbour

François started doing live sound for rock and pop bands in clubs around Montreal at the age of sixteen, and soon became a well-known and respected music engineer. He initially served as the chief audio engineer at Montreal’s famous Studio Tempo, working with the top jingle producers in the city. The experience enabled him to hone his skills to mix a huge array of musical styles and ensembles.

Since 1992, François has been a member of the Association des Professionnels en Audio and served as its president from 2000 to 2002, holding several conferences on recording and mixing issues. He has also participated in numerous conferences of the Audio Engineering Society. An interest to share his knowledge and experience led François to teach practical classes on studio techniques at Musitechnic from 1993 to 2003.

Always seeking new challenges and foreseeing a new way of working in his field, François became an independent music engineer in 2000, allowing him to experience multiple contemporary mixing environments.

With more than 20 years of experience in the music industry, François has mixed and mastered some of Canada’s most nationally and internationally renowned multimedia productions. His work covers countless productions, ranging from award-winning TV series (Les Bougon, Providence, CA, Rene Levesque), nationally and internationally renowned movies and IMAX feature films (Head in the Clouds, Fighter Pilots, La grande séduction, Dédé, De Père en Flic), live shows-entertainment (La symphonie du Monde–Jean-Pierre Ferland), albums (Jean-Pierre Ferland, Nicole Martin, Patrick Normand) to cutting edge video games (Prince of Persia).

François has been an essential collaborator for the development of Campagn’Arts Media since its foundation in 1990, lending his talents, skills and experience to all our productions.
